I was dialated to a 6 for a month and the doctor told me if I felt any pressure (like I neede to push) to come into L & D. So, a month after I found out I went in. I was still at a 6, but my contractions were 1 to 2 minutes apart and I didnt have a labor pain one.... until the doc induced me later that day . He said he induced me because my labor wasnt progressing.

Not me personally, my body is too lazy to do that much work before hand :)
My cousin was dilated to 6cm a few days before labour started. Once she started labour she only had a 15 minute labour, with no pushing. It was pretty hard on the baby and my cousin delivered her daughter on the bed before the nurses even got to her room.

oh sure - with my 2nd baby i went in for a check up about a week before i was due and was dilated 2 - 3cm and didn't know it. that's good! the more work your body does before hard labor the better!!!

Yes I was at 4 for 2 weeks you just don't feel anything so you cant tell whats going on down there. Its fine to do that in your last trimester.
