I have to have this outpatient procedure several times a year and the sickening aftertaste lasts for 2-3 days.

It's definitely saline solution. The drs. say it's a common problem but none of them know of anything to get rid of the aftertaste.

Thank you Suzie for the lemon drop suggestion. Haven't tried that one. Mouthwash/mints only work for a few minutes. With all that modern medicine can do, there has to be an answer to this.

Should have noted I've tried all kinds of mints, mouthwashes, candies (except Suzie's lemon suggestion), gum. Also tried drinking lots of extra water and, as soon as my stomach could handle it, eating spicy food, food with garlic and other strong flavors. (Note to anyone else with this problem: I don't recommend garlicky foods. The saline nausea remains and you have bad breath on top of it, meaning more mouthwash/mints and on it goes.) Also tried sparkling water.
