My mom insists on coming into the doctor's office with me all the time, and there seems to be NOTHING I can do to disuade her. She thinks I tell the doctor things I don't tell her, and I haven't - up until now. I'm getting a pelvic today, and I know at some point I'll be asked if I'm sexually active (which I am). That is something I don't want my mother to be aware of. I'm fifteen, so I'm not so certain that there is some policy that my mother can't be in there if I don't want her to be. What can I do? She's a very stubborn person, and I'm afraid I've threatened and said all I can to keep her in the waiting room.

Tell the nurse you wish to have your exam with just her and the doctor.. not your mom. Thanks to HIPAA, you have rights too. It's between you and your doctor. Nobody else.

My husband has been noted an orthopedic well being care expert who no longer in basic terms asked his faith, yet while he believed in an more advantageous potential. To me, interior the physicians place of work this replaced into none of his enterprise. i'm able to understand the religion section interior the medical institution, yet additionally they ask if the better half is the single that could make judgements in circumstances the place this question is needed, and if the better half might have the potential to make those judgements, which i may well be, i recognize what he needs. yet then they asked if he believed in an more advantageous potential? bizarre.

The doctor will most likely ask your mom to leave the room when they are asking you private questions.
You have the right to privacy and if you don't want your mother in the room, she doesn't have to be.
Anything you tell the doctor will be kept private...so don't worry.

The truth is that your mother is your legal gaurdian and has the right to axcess your medical records until you are 18 there is no law to protect you she signs your paperwork and pays the bills you need to tell her and stop having sex at your age it ruins it when you get older and fall in love it wont be pleasurable anymore

By law she cannot make you take her in with you. But it's hard. You are a minor and she drives you there and she pays the bills.

You shouldn't be sexually active at your age. I can understand her concern. I would be very upset if my 15 year old was having sex and not talking to me about it. So, if she insists on going on with you, you need to talk to her about your life. It is hard, but you made that choice when you decided to have sex at 15. Sorry.

If your doctor is decent, just say you do NOT want your Mother in there with you. I mean, if they're going to be assholes about it, then just refuse to let them do anything at all! I mean, you have freedom of speech and they really shouldn't let her in with you during a pelvic exam anyway. Good luck! :)
