When I had my son I was on FMLA for three months paid yet they asked me if i wanted to leave for six months yet the other three wouldn't be paid. I've heard about jobs from home but there all advertisement where your going to have to step out of your home. The only thing I can think of is the online surveys though I don't know if they pay much. I understand how you feel though I had to go back to work to support my family. I cried the day I had to go back to work it's hard leaving your lil one behind when you carried your baby for nine months at work.

deeze obviously has no clue. You can not use maternity or having a baby as an excuse for long term disability leave. There doesn't seem to be anything you can do. So you don't want to go back to work until she is 6 months, you contrated with your employer to be back April 11th, they CAN hold your position for you but not until July, your employer has the right to fill whatever spot you vacated within a reasonable amount of time with someone who is going to be there.

You are correct, FMLA leave is unpaid. Categorically, if you are out on FMLA leave, you are supposed to be taking care of a newborn, adopted baby, or ill family member (parent, child, elderly dependent, spouse). You are not supposed to be working for another company. The only thing I can think of is to babysit in your home for another child. Do remember that you must still pay your monthly portion (the portion that your company normally deducts from your paycheck) of your health benefits for you and your child for you to still be covered while you are on FMLA leave.

I had a son in October 06 and I had to go back to work once my 6 week maternity leave was over and my other 6 weeks PFL and baby and I where fine I don't see why you don't have to.. Every one usually goes back to work right after there 6 weeks of maternity leave is over....anyway..If you can't afford to stay home any longer you should go back to work..

6 months of maternity is a lot of time off. It is a luxury that you simply cannot afford. Get back to work and let the father spend some time looking after the baby.

The only way to stay home with your baby is to have some one support you. there is always wic for the baby. unless you are breast feeding then there is help for both of you. if you are under 21 you need to get support from your mother. you could not even apply for food stamps of medicaid,
being a stay at home mom I understand the need to stay home with your baby. I stayed home with all of mine. You should look deeply into this before you make any decisions. what ever you decide will affect you and your baby for the rest of your lives.

Maybe you could just get a part-time job in the evenings so your boyfriend can watch the baby and he won't have to be put into daycare.
No offense, but this is why people should be married and have their finances in order before having kids.

FMLA only holds a position for you ( and it may not be the one you already have )

you should be able to file for PFL unless you've done that already
other than that, FMLA is unpaid and you will have no income other than you're boyfriend's temp job

Since your boyfriend is only working temp, you'll just have to get yourself back to work. As much as we would all love to stay home and take care of our own, these days it's harder and harder to do. You could try the welfare route!
