Why is this? Why is it so different when it comes to a bar, compared to a live concert?

Why do people insist on hearing songs they know in a bar? But when they go see a band live at an arena, they put up with what the band plays?

There are too many people at a concert.

Well...in a bar it's a more intimate setting and the band can hear what you're saying. In an arena there are a lot more people and it's much nosier.

Plus I think many of the big bands have preset set lists that they alter slightly for each show on a tour. I know U2 does that anyway.

That is a good question.

The reason, it seems to me, is that virtually everyone at a concert is there because they enjoy the original music of the performing band.

Bands in bars are generally cover bands, and since they are playing familiar music, the people in the bar will naturally tend to have suggestions. The fact that the stage is much smaller and closer to the audience only contributes to this scenario.

at a bar the band is more accessable than at a concert. the band can also ignore shouted requests easier at a concert. people might be just a little drunker and have less inhibitions in a bar. smaller venues have a different feel than larger venues and people are more relaxed about making requests or making their wishes known.

Usually bands in a bar play cover tunes and so people want to hear their favorite songs. Also bands in bars are usually more accessible to the crowd than arenas with high stages, and so the patrons feel like they can interact better with the bar bands.

Well the answer is pretty obvious. People who play in bar ar e trying to make the crowd happy and people who are playing at a concert are rich and already made the crowd happy so they no longer give a ****.
