I checked my System and it says that the Device (Lite-On LTN483S MAX) is working properly.

What do younk the problem is?

Questions to ask :

- did it previously work correctly ?
- what changes (if any) were made on your PC between then & now ?

If these do not apply & it is a newly installed drive then try connecting it on a different IDE channel.

Sometimes certain devices will not perform properly on the same channel as other drives despite the fact that they are detected correctly by Windows.
- verify all Master/Slave jumper configurations
- try a cleaning kit for CD drives
- try booting with a Windows CD ... perhaps the issue is within the operating system itself...

Hope these suggestions are of some assistance.

Philip T

Try another disc...I've found some discs aren't recognized properly. I'd also check to make sure that it's not upside down...I've don't that with those blank bulk ones that are hard to differentiate between the writing side and the top.

If not try rebooting the computer....that's worked for me. You can also install an updated driver as something may have been updated (ie. microsoft) which made it incompatible.

Good luck

Laser might need some cleaning. Try cleaning it first, then if you have problems with it reading any sort of cd, then you may want to take it to a shop to get it checked out (or have a friend that knows about computers check it out, whichever is cheapest).
