Is the rock scene turning into a sort of fashion arms race full of teenies who are more interested in what they've got, what they look like and who's looking at them than they are in the music? Are there any fellow dedicated rock MUSIC fans who are finding their gigs infiltrated by this little heathens?
(I know there are going to be those who call me a hypocrite with my Fall Out Boy quote, but hey, I'm only 26 I'm allowed a few teeny bands. Oh and the gig I noticed this at really badly was Enter Shikari in Manchester, but there were also loads watching Muse at Reading, the philistines)

Cranberry, you are offically a philistine!! It's the image obsession, not the music that's the problem.

Oh lordy lord I thought I was alone in this. I understand that music touches on many social aspects and has always had connections with fashion.

But in NY it's horrible. There's this whole "Hipster" movement that I just don't get. It's kids who think they're cooler than the rest cause they listen to "underground" music that is artsy and think they have like the inside scoop on these underground acts. They all wear the same stupid hat & blazer get up, and sport a mutated hippie attitude.

All I know is when I go to a rock show, I wear my jeans and a shirt because for the most part I plan on bein in the crowd and gettin sweaty and pushed around. But even for shows where I stay on the side and have a drink or something, I'm at least with full attention to the show. All these brats sit on the side and talk to each other and could seemingly care less about anything else except for how good they look to the others around em.

News flash THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME.

Non-conformists who only care about conforming to each other...how ironic.
