I haven't any experience with this. However if I wanted to kill a human I would probably go for the 12 ga. shotgun.

It depends on how far away they are. And if you have to dispose of the body. How messy you want it to get.
I'm a stabber myself. I don't see a point of killing someone if you don't really mean it.
