Some good answers above but what about CO2 and global warming. In the 1980s the proportion of CO2 was about 0.03% and had been about that figure for a very long time and many web resources and text books quote this value.
The whole point of the huge international debate at the moment is that it has risen to some figure between 0.045 and 0.053%, depending on what source you find.

hey dude... air is simply a blend of Gases, the air in the troposphere consists of the following proportions of gases:
1. 78 percent nitrogen,
2. 21 percent oxygen,
3. 0.9 percent argon,
4. 0.03 percent carbon dioxide, and the remaining
5. 0.07 percent is a mixture of hydrogen, water, ozone, neon, helium, krypton, xenon, and other trace components.
