Now don't go saying something like that....

The Bible is a source of information compiled over many years from many different authors, not all of which had the same understanding of the Divine. However, it is still a good source of finding the Truth.

It's the people who read it, preach it, and then violate it that are the hypocrites.

The bible is a whole series of books written over a period of hundreds of years by many different people (who may or may not have been under SomeOnes direction). There was no central book editor so the theme wanders a bit and cohesion is not its strong point.

The bible is just a book of stories written by humans.

I could put together a book of stories and sell it as religion.

The bible was placed here by people who wanted power and wanted to scare people into behaving.

A group of "disturbed" people across multiple continents, writing multiple works about God and somehow the fact that they all line up with each other is coincidence? I think not. Not to mention that was a loaded question you asked.

Hypocrisy is a matter of saying one thing and doing another. How does the Bible do this?

You might mean 'why does the Bible has self-contradictions in it?' or 'why does the Bible have parts that I think are mean?' perhaps you could give a bit more idea of what you mean.

The Bible does contradict itself... a lot between the old testament and the new testament... You have to remember that it wasn't written by ONE person... it was written by many people...
