The school (University City High School) has a total of 90 teachers 15 are absent daily, and about 30 dont show for class but expect the students to come and do work.

it depends on their situation. For example, the teacher could be sick, have a sick child or have a family emergency.

Teachers are humans. Ask them, talk to them. Perhaps they dont like their jobs.

If you wait to be taught, you will always be a worker for other people, an employee. If you take an active interest in your own development and education, miracles will happen and your life will be changed forever.

Read the books assigned, research on the internet, visit the library, you dont need a teacher to do any of that.

Or sit around griping about absent teachers. Your choice.

At 80,000/yr after 3 years and 24 sick days on top of their summer, winter and spring break, wouldn't you call in sick?

And on the second part, the teachers could care less if the students do the work or not, primary level it's always "satisfactory" and you pass, and in high school, the teacher fails you and doesn't care, she keeps teaching and collecting a paycheque...

that's a high percentage...in my high school, some of my classes have a rule that if they don't show up for 20 mins, the students can just leave

I dont know but if the teacher misses the class why are you complaining shutup and have fun you idiot.

They probably don't like school anymore than you do! You'd be amazed (or maybe you wouldn't) at the number of people who choose teaching because they think it's going to be easy or because they don't have any other skills.

they think that because they're a higher level than students they can do whatever they want. and if you tell on them the main boss will go on their side
