You should be a shamed of yourself . You are more concerned about your ex wife 's name change than being a father to the son you have never seen?
You need some man lessons.

So Stephanie W, what state are you from that you got married to a woman, had a kid together (who is the father or what lab you went to get the sperm sample) and I guess she is the one who got pregnant because you never met the baby.
I don’t buy it, but whatever. Anyways, lets just give the benefit of the doubt and think you are a guy using your new wife’s account in Yahoo and want to know this for real…
To find out if she changed the name, you have to go to the public records. You might have to pay to be able to see it, and you should be allowed to see it as you divorced her, so she can not keep using your last name.
But the best thing is to go to the court, and ask there as law changes from state to state. But for the baby, you should be entitled to know, unless you are legally not taking care nor giving child support, in which case you will have no access to the personal files.

First of all divorce papers usually only say that she MAY change her name back to her maiden name if she so chooses. Unless there was a specific codicil applied where she has been court ordered to change her last name then she didn't have to. As far as finding out her last name...all you can do is to ASK her or someone who knows her.

to be honest i really don't know, but My dad had a simuilar situation where his ex wife from 1967 still has his last name and she NEVER changed it back ever. he divorced her in 1967. what the? so even if she doesn't change it back, i would say it's messed up, but think of it as flattery. i mean for her to keep your name she must either reeeeally love you and knows what she will be missing, or really wants to piss you off, so in that case, i would use psychology on her and tell her that,"she'll probably keep your name because she knows your the best thing that ever happened to her." when she hears that, she may want to change it. but i wouldn't mention it right away, just maybe if she brings it up, we don't want her to think that you think about it and that it pisses you off. wink. ya know? i just think those people are either psycho, they do it for leverage, in some way, like to get back at you or to make your new wife jealous by intimidation or something like that, or to make things easier, like some people don't feel like changing their cards and stuff. My dad just says whatever, let that bit.. keep it.

It is hard for women to do the changes here there all the time. Men do not have to worry about the bureaucracy and paper works they have to go through. I had ot keep my papers under my ex s name and he did not minde it at all! My university degrees, my driver s licence and eveyr thing was under his last name! Whn men get married to you they expect you to change every thing to their last name right away, why this is not a problem at that time? I had to pay for all these changes. Why do you care so much? YOu had a child with her, right?? If tha tis your real biiological child then I guess the child deserve to have your name if she wants to!

You've never even met your son? How sad! I grew up never knowing my real father (and I'm not even supposed to know he exists, but kids are nosy) and I regret that. If you live in the same town as her, I'm sure it'd be quite simple to figure out. If you didn't...not sure why it would even matter all that much.

County records where she resides should record a name change in the public records or the county court records. You can check for yourself or call the courthouse and ask them if they have a suggestion; they might (if you catch them in a good mood) help you themselves.

No offense, but why does it even matter? If you're not involved in her life or your sons, what difference does it make if she changed her name?
