The greatest WWE Championshp Match of all time came when the WWE was the WWF! It was at WrestleMania VI on April 1, 1990 @ The SkyDome in Toronto, Canada with 67,678 people on hand to witness two champions fighting for it all. Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan. It was already building up to a climax before this match became reality because Warrior and Hogan were at one point, cool with each other, then they became enemies. Two superpowers? What made this match so crazy was this match-up was an either/or contest. You could not like them both. You had to like one or the other.

Even though the outcome was pure crap, the best championship match was the Ironman match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. They went 60 minutes with neither competitor scoring a pinfall or submission, and because of that, Bret should have been allowed to leave WrestleMania XII with the championship (or at least keep the Sharpshooter on HBK because the move was locked in when time expired).

The Rock vs Mankind, last man standing at St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1999. It was an incredible showcase of everything that has made these two superstars icons of the wrestling industry. No. It was THE incredible showcase of everything THAT made these two superstars icons of the wrestling industry. You simply do not see matches as innovative, entertaining or emotionally involved as this match any more. It was a rare and special match made all the more important by involving the WWF title being put on the line.
