Of course they do, thats why its called a separation and not a divorce. If you want to get back together...then you need to put some effort into bring back your relationship to the way it used to be. The first thing you need to find out is if this is final for him...if he wants to be out of the marrage...or if he thinks about you and also wants to fix it. Be honest with your feelings, tell him/her how you feel and go from there. If you still love each other there is always hope to fix the problems and start all over again.

i was legally separated one time i filed for a divorce he talked me in to reconciling it seemed good for a few months then he started his **** about abusing me while drinking so were separated not legally
