I currently work at a police station as an admin assist. I want to go back to school to get a degree but I dont know what to get it in. I want to continue to work at the police station. What degrees can I get that doesnt involve police or crimal justice?

You can pick any degree you are interested in. Most employers are very accepting of those seeking a degree. If you go back to school, you can either pick to go back to school part time and arrange your schedule around that or fulltime (which would probably mean you have to work parttime).

Options are:
Night school at a community college
Continuing ed classes at a 4 yr college (tend to be night classes as well)
switch your hours at the police station

You can have all your classes in the morning and work afternoons. You can pick to arrange a schedule thats just Mon/Wed (or just Tues/Thurs) then you would still be able to work 3 days a week and w/es.

It all depends on a couple factors and money is the primary one. If you are barely making enough to get by while working fulltime, you will probably need to just take some night classes.

If you have some luxuries (still live at home or have two salaries you can fall back on) you might chose to cut your hours back slightly, and take classes 2 days a week.

You can take any number of hours while still working. Anywhere from 1 class (3 hrs) to 6 classes (18 hrs, which is a really heavy semester). Anywhere from 15-18 hrs will put you on the traditional 4 yr program til graduation.

At a police station, many majors are computers, psychology of criminal mind, forensics, antropology, archaeology, etc. Most people do not work in the same field of their degree. But no degree can stop you from being considered for a promotion. Many colleges offer over 200 majors, so impossible to start listing them all here.

Your first year will be tons of basic, boring classes--your high school flashback of math, history, science. You'll be able to take several different courses to see what might interest you but there are tons of things besides criminal justice. If you have a desire to get your degree, you should go for it.
