Very broad question, but I have personally seen couples take time apart and it sometimes brings them closer together. Depends really on the circumstances, but in a nutshell the answer is yes.

in the state of connecticut, thats what legal seperation is for its a 90 day cooling off time, im told 30 % will stay together

Sure they do.
Don't give up if you want to stay married. My wife and I had both filed for divorce and were 2 months away from divorce but we reconciled and are very happy now.
