If you believe that a fetus isn't a person until it's born, then do you disagree with the murder of a pregnant woman being considered a double murder?

Tigglys- A miscarriage is involuntary, so no, it's not suicide.

Yes, this would be a double murder.
Regardless of the personal views of whether a fetus is a person or not, it still remains that the mothers full focused INTENT was for the fetus to become a fully developed, air breathing human. Had the murder NOT taken place then the woman would have given birth, as her absolute intention was to bring a child into the world. The murderer took her choice away and as a result put an abrupt stop to the fetuses development.
Charge: Double murder.

EDIT:

People it doesn't matter whether you think a fetus is considered human or not, that is not the issue. The POINT is it was the mothers FULL INTENTION to carry through full term! The murderer took her life and as a natural result stopped a baby from being born. It's double murder.

that is the slippery slope, and i'll answer the best i can...

i am pro-choice, as i see abortion as a necessary evil. without it being legal women would lose control of their bodies, and it would still be done only under horrible conditions so i also consider it a women's health issue.

i am disgusted by women who have repeated abortions as if it were a form of birth control, but i can understand that a woman may decide at some point in her life that the time is not right to have a child for any number of reasons. i think the latter is often saddened by it, and will take even more precautions to not be in that situation again.

as to resolving the conflicting issue, i think that starting at the second trimester, abortion should not be allowed (except for a serious medical reason) and it should be considered a double murder to kill a preg woman. before then, the rate of miscarriage is a lot higher as well, who's to say that it would have been born for certain? many women miscarry before they even know they are pregnant.

as to whether it is a person... i do not know, it seems a gray area. when i was expecting i called it my baby, at just 5 wks. but i miscarried, and although sad, it was not as if i had actually lost a child as i had not had one yet, i only had the idea of one.

Hey, when a woman have a miscarriage the fetus dies and if she has an abortion the fetus dies. If something dies is because it was alive. The fetus is a life inmediatly after being conceived. No matter how small it is. So, if someone murders a pregnant woman then the killer should be charged of double murder.

This isn't a matter of what people think (which can vary from person to person) or what their perspective of a fetus is. The FACT of LAW is that a fetus is not a person until it is birthed and takes a breath. And yes I disagree based on law that the murder of a pregnant woman is a double murder. Anti-choice people are trying to use that ruling to con people to withhold rights to women. Last time I checked, America is a free country.

A fetus is a baby and should be called such. Now as for the BABY being a person, of course it is. I fail to understand why people don't get that and abortion is still killing a person, therefore killing a pregnant woman is worse than just one person being murdered. I'd like to say A GREAT BIG THANKS to all those people who acknowledge the truth for what it is. BABIES ARE PEOPLE WHETHER THEY HAVE BEEN BORN OR NOT!

The fetus is part of the mother's body so long as it depends on her to breath/eat/grow. As soon as the fetus starts breathing, it becomes a seperate entity and has rights equal and seperate from the mother. When a pregnant woman is killed, the fetus is not killed immediately, but dies as a result of the murderer's actions.

It is no different than you going into a bank with a gun, and killing someone in the act. Even if its not your intention to kill people when you bring in the gun, they die because of your associated criminal act, and is therefore murder not manslaughter.

How would you like to be the fetus and someone kills both of you? Definitely is double murder and should be punished double as well.
Who is more of a murderer a woman who goes through an abortion or an irresponsible male who practice irresponsible sex and walks away from his pregnant females?

It depends on how far along she is.

I'll put it to you this way: If someone gets injured, what do you do to check to see if that person is still alive? You check for vital signs (heartbeat, breathing, etc.) Therefore, a fetus is only alive if it has a heartbeat, usually 6-9 weeks of pregnancy. You kill something by stopping it's heartbeat. If it doesn't have one, it's not murder.

I have a headache.

Okay, so the legal question often becomes that of "viable" - and science keeps moving that target.

The question I'd ask you back is many fetus self abort. (sometime w/o the woman even knowing she was pregnant) Would you call those suicides?
