I'm having trouble concieving, i'm taking clomid as my doctor suggested, however still have not become pregnant. Ovulation never occurs before or weeks after your period right? it only comes right after you have your period? Thank you in advanced.

Ovualation can occur soon after your period, but it can also take several days. It all depends on your stress level and things like that. If your body senses that it isn't the best time to be fertile and ovulate, then it will hold off the ovulation. I have ovulated as soon as day 13 of my cycle and as late as day 19 of my cycle. I've seen women's temping charts that have ovulated as late as day 33 of their cycle! So, it all depends. If you are on clomid then you should be ovulating around days 14-18 of your cycle. I take clomid also and fluctuate from 13-16 days...remember, day 1 of your cycle starts the first day of your period.

If you go to fertilityfriend.com they have tons of info about your cycle and what happens. Also, I recommend you read "Taking Charge of your Fertility". It's a great book that every women should read so they can learn about their bodies.

Good luck!

You should try using ovulation predictor kits or try charting your basal body temperature (your doctor can tell you how) to see if and when you are ovulating. It's possible that you aren't ovulating at all, even on the clomid. The first month I took clomid I ovulated on day 18 (day 1 is the first day of your period). This month, I'm on day 23 and I still haven't ovulated - my guess is that I won't, and that maybe I need a higher dose of clomid or something.

If you use an ovulation predictor kit or chart your basal body temperature, you will find out if you are timing intercourse correctly for your particular cycle. There are also other signs of ovulation your doctor can tell you about, like the position of your cervix or the consistancy of your cervical mucous.

Unless you have a very short menstrual cycle, women usually ovulate about 14 days before they start their period. Or about half-way in between periods.

www.fertilityfriend.com is a very good site for helping you figure out when you're ovulating.

Also, have you tried ovulation predictor kits?
