The first poster is correct, but another common term is Linocut Print, a good description of the process can be found here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lino_printing

The second poster's info on Linotype typesetting is also correct but is a reference to typesetting rather than to a hand-cut printing plate. Linocuts are actually carved from linoleum, whereas Linotype has nothing to do with linoleum.

Whilst I agree with the previous answer a lino print may be something totally different. Some years ago the text for newspapers was set by linotype machines who dropped lead letters in a frame forming the terxt of an article.
The printed form process (in this case the newspaper) was called a lino type print or a lino print.instead of a text set by other means (nowadays by a computer) and photographied by a camera, turned into a cardbaord "flan" and eventually a lead semicircular mold screwed onto the cylinders of a rotary press.

You trace a drawing onto some lino which is what some people use instead of floorboards and then you scrape out the picture and put paint on the lino. Then you lie the lino down on paper and your picture appears !!
