For a complete list of what is and is not allowed on the aircraft in both your checked and carry on luggage you can go to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/

If you are changing planes within the EU, then any liquid bought outside of the EU will be confiscated if not checked in your hold luggage. This includes anything that has been purchased at a non-EU duty free shop even if sealed in a see-through secure bag.
