I'm not sure what you're asking actually. If you mean gang members, then, yes, unfortunately, every school has them in one form or another. I believe that its important for schools to teach tolerence and safety. I think its important to have standards that include dress codes that don't include gang colors. I think that education about gangs is essential. Children rebel for a lot of reasons. Part of it is a natural developmental stage designed to help them individuate from their parents. But the other parts include an inability to connect in very fundamental ways. Gangs offer a sense of "family" to alot of young people. They have to "prove themselves" in order to belong. When they don't come from a healthy home environment, then that need to "belong" usually manifests someplace. Holding parents accountable for their actions is essential. Helping families come together to "be better families" is also necessary. Our children live in a tough world right now and we need to let them know that they are cherished, loved, and protected.
