t seems you are new with computers, no problem, in life everything is new & you need to keep learning all the time.
Viruses are mostly in all kind of files, this can come from a floppy, Compact Disk, Pen Drive, etc, or from Internet, mostly from any kind of attachments in emails, or any file(s) you download from the Net. These viruses are very dangerous; sometimes they even affect your data, or any of the hardware parts in the computer.
Spy Worms mostly comes when you access some unsecured web sites, like the Porn Sites, Software Crack sites, etc. I suggest you to kindly go to www.symantec.com
And download the 15 days trial version of Norton Anti Virus 2007 & install it on your PC then scan the entire Hard Disk this will clean all the Viruses & Spay Wares or Worms.

For Spyware Protection : Lavasoft ad-ware se and Spybot search and destroy
Anti-Virus:AVG 7.5
Firewall:Zone Alarm 7
Make Pc Faster:Ccleaner, HD cleaner, Or use the tools on your pc E.T.C Disk Cleaner and Defrag
Use all these programs and your pc will stay %100 Clean and use them all bout every 2 weeks or so

spywares:
i started of with this topic because it is todays most important topic these days.
symptoms:
1.your computer tends to slow down.
2. unnescessary ads when you open your pc.
3.cannot start various applications, such as task manager.
4.this is rare case but sometimes pc also restarts!.
why it happens:
1. you sometimes face ads on net, they ask you to restart the system.when you restart the system the the spyware gets installed on your system 32 folder which is main folder.
2.they start working on your sytem puts ads of the company which deployed these sypwares,
3.they block the applications thorough which you can stop making them work!.such as taskmanager. or rum command!
4.some spywares are so harmful that they send your pc info to other pc thats why (spy_--ware)!.

go to cnet.com and click on downloads it will take you to a page where you can download free software, look on left side to find catagories.

if you've got anti-spyware and anti-virus software you wouldn't have any nasties on your computer
get avg anti-virus from here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 and do a scan it'll tell you if you have any viruses and allow you to kill them
get Ad-aware anti-spyware here http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html run a scan if you've any spyware of adware it'll list it and let you delete it
