I grew up in Toronto and moved to Halifax when I was 19. I went to Dalhousie University and got into surfing which opened up a whole new world for me.
I then moved to New York to work because the career side of me was conditioned into my head from growing up in Toronto. Yet I still managed to go surfing on Long Island on the weekends. After a few years, I decided to make the move to Los Angeles to be closer to the surf lifestyle. I ended up meeting people in the surf industry and moved to San Diego and I'm still here after four years.
I'm actually going back to Toronto next week for three weeks to hang out with my family. I do like Toronto but I don't like the mentality of many people there. It's largely about materialistic goals and what kind of job you have. This can be true anywhere, but I find in San Diego, no one cares what school I went to or what I do for a living. It's a lot more low key. I live in a beach town in North County San Diego called Carlsbad and it's really relaxed yet at the same time there is lot of industry. I'm about 20 miles from downtown San Diego which is an entirely different scene and a little closer to the way Toronto is.
I don't think I'll ever move back to Toronto. I'd like for my parents to move down here so they can be closer to me.

San Diego is definatly the more practical place to live. I live in San diego and have traveled in Toronto for a month. I think that the weather in San Diego is a big plus for me, it is always sunny. The people are also very pleasant and there is a lot to do in San Diego too!
HOPE I HELPED

San Diego is much better if you like the ocean and mostly lovely warm weather. If you love freezing winters and a land locked situation then Toronto would be for you. San Diego has lots of cool people but then so does Toronto.

San Diego, of course. If nothing else, for the weather and beaches.
