Hi, my 02 Ford Escape's steering wheel has been sqeeking very bad when I turn it to the right. I took it in, and the Ford mechanic just called to tell me he has to replace both outer tire rod ends and align the front, and this will cost about 400.
This seems like a lot!
Does he have to replace both?
Please let me know if this price seems fair....

on more research, it's not the rod ends because the alignment is fine and the car doesn't vibrate. never mind...

Well its tie rod ends, i would shop around they always jack the price up a bit I had to replace mine on an older model ford back in the day and it ran me 289.00. Its recommended anytime you change something in a cars front end that you do it on both sides as it usually will go bad pretty fast it wears about even but it is a semi decent price for the car you drive.
