Personally, i have problems drawing stick people on paper, but i think that making 3d characters on the computer is much simpler. I took a digital media course in animation last semester. I "sculpted" a 3d penguin. It was more time consuming, but it looked tons better than i ever could have drawn on paper. I would look into a major in Digital Media Arts. You can even choose an emphasis in computer animation, and you don't have to be good at drawing.

I suck at drawing, and I have some decent 3D animation skills. Although, I do like the medium better and I have noticed my drawing skills improve, especially after I got some books on the subject.

No actually, in the real world other people can design the characters and you will simply animate them. Like video game design is not done start to finish by the 3d animators, there's designers as well.

This all depends on how hard you work and how much time you devote to drawing. If you're only lukewarm about drawing and don't do it often besides the work you have to do for class, you might struggle to put together a professional portfolio. But if you're drawing every day and honing your skills it's definitely possible to get to professional status.

That's what animation is all about. If your talking about the real deal with all of that portrait configuration than you do have to be a good artist. But a cartoonist doesn't require much skill at all, just to be a funny and witty guy. Nice job looking into it and asking people all about it. I hope my answer helps! Take care.

No. you'll just have really badly drawn stuff that may be well animated.
