I know this is a wired question but, my girlfriend and I have been dating for almost 6 years now, since we were 17. As a result, we haven't made an effort to keep or make friends. Now that we are older and maturing, we realize that we need to have a social life beyond our family and each other. The problem is we are both terrible at making friends mainly because our time consists of going to work, and working on our business. we need suggestions on how to find / make friends. we do go out a lot by ourselves, but we'd like to be able to have some mutual friends as well as our own..... just seems so difficult

people who become friends are typically(but not always) like minded people with similar interests ... so ask yourself what your interests are, is it your family and your kids? Do you want to do things as a couple? do you want to try new things? ... once you decide that, and you began doing the things you enjoy doing, you will be in a position to meet new people, and create new friendships with people who have similar interests ... and you might even like some of them :P

and there you go :)

Invite the people you want to be friends with out! The whole thing about being friends is doing stuff together. Try reconnecting with old friends, calling them up out of the blue. They won't care that it's out of the blue, they'll be happy to hear from you! And when you invite them to an activity with you, they have the option to say yes or no. Be persistent in making things happen, and they will!
