To everyone who is telling Amy that she is wrong - that is your personal opinion and attacking someone for a decision that they felt was right for their situation is wrong in itself.
She didn't ask for your opinion on what is in the past, she is asking for advice on her symptoms. Stop being negative.

Now, to Amy.
It's normal for your body to still have pregnancy associated symptoms - you've just stopped being pregnant. Your body is still acting as though it is going through pregnancy. Until your hormones rebalance themselves you will probably keep having unusual symptoms like irregular periods, sore breasts.

The sharp pain in the stomach (if it is not normal cramp pain) does not sound normal however.
You should see your doctor as soon as possible about this. Getting an abortion is not a standard thing that your body goes through, much like an operation, so your body may react badly to it.
Any pain or strange irregularities should definitely be seen by a doctor, just to make sure you are Ok, you don't want an abortion ruining your chances of pregnancy in later life which may happen if the pain is to do with the procedure.

Try getting as much rest as possible, your body has been through a lot of stress and make sure to let the doctor know.
If you feel quite down or depressed it may be a good idea to speak to a counsellor (I know there is a lot of stigma attached to this but it could help a lot) becuase depression and anxiety is very common shortly after an abortion or miscarriage.

Hope you feel better soon!
And don't let the negative comments get to you.
They're not worth it, honestly.
x

It is advised that if you still have pregnancy symptoms afterwards the abortion may be incomplete. Sometimes if it is carried out early, it is hard to remove everything succesfully. I would advise you to contact where you had it carried out and they should see you immediatey for a checkup, scan etc to see whats going on. The symptoms should stop almost immediately.
I had one carried out 6 years ago and received an after care leaflet which said pregnancy symptoms should stop almost immediately, also about 1 week later I had a heavy period & then back to normal. It was carried out at a Marie Stopes clinic, they also have a website which will have info about this & telephone numbers.
Hope this helps, all the best x

What a traumatic experience for you. You have your reasons and no one on here should judge you, we all do things for a reason. I hope that you have been able to get some form of counselling after that ordeal cause no matter if you wanted to have one or not, it will still prey on your mind. I think the others are right in what they are saying... Its going to take a while before your body goes back to normal. Whne I had a miscarriage in November, It took a while for my body to nbe the same (lol, then I fell pregnant soon after, i was and am happy!¬) Good luck and hang in there. Dont feel too bad at having an abortion, ignore the rude idiots condeming you for it, im sure whatever your reasons, they were for the best.

Your body has been through a big ordeal, being pregnant one minute and then not the next. I haven't been through that myself, but I think some hormonal upset is to be expected. If you are worried, you should give the clinic a call. I'm sure somewhere there will talk you through it.
I expect people on here will give you abuse for saying you had an abortion. Just ignore them. You obviously did what was right for you. I see from your profile that you are 15 and you sound like quite a young 15 and having a baby would have made the rest of your life very difficult.
Go out there and do something special with your life and enjoy your youth. And take care in future!

Your body will take time to return to a non pregnant state.your hormones will fluctuate a bit (hence the sore breasts). Just have plenty of rest and ignore the criticism on here.

Do you have any friends you can talk to? Somebody close to me had a termination some years ago and confided in me. I just listened and hugged her afterwards.

See your GP and get some sleep! Take care.

It's common. I didn't have an abortion, I had a miscarriage. It takes your body a while to figure out what happened. If your question is: Am I still pregnant, the answer is no. Also, you probably didn't have your period. You probably had normal bleeding afterbirth. You should try posting this in Women's Health, you'll probably get a better response. Most women here are pregnant.

I had an abortion back in August. i bled heavily for about 4 or 5 days and then kept bleeding for more than 2 weeks. I only had pain for a couple of days and was more frustrated than in pain by the whole experience. Hope you fell well soon. xxx

why is everyone on here so judgemental? You can never know what circumstances another person is experiencing and everyone has the right to choice, sometimes not everything is within our control and you take the only option available.

You are very brave for putting your question on here and there are some very cruel and ignorant answers for you to ignore.

It is normal that your body will take a few months to adapt back into its normal cycle but just to be sure get yourself checked out by a nurse or doctor. You certainly won't be preganant they will just be side effects and your hormones.

I will you all the best for the future, you have made a decision which is never easy but better than two lives of regret and misery.

The symptoms will go away soon.

I had a miscarriage, and still had pregnancy symptoms for a few weeks.

In your case, the sore breasts could be from lactating. You might start producing milk. That happens after abortions sometimes.

Be really careful about infections. If your fever goes up, call the clinic. You can get really sick from bacterial infections after those procedures.

It will take a little time for your body to get through all of the hormones and return to normal. During pregnancy, your body floods your blood stream with hormones and it just takes time to recycle them all - if that makes sense.

When is your follow up appointment? Please remember to keep your follow up appointment so that they can make sure that all of the tissue is removed and that you aren't having any adverse reactions.

If you have a sudden fever, dizziness, or uncontrollable pain - please call your doctor or go to the hospital to get checked out.

Good health and good luck! I hope this helps.
