I applied to Walmart a few weeks ago and just the other day one of my references was talking to me and they told me the place had called them. Of course that was good, but I'm wonderin why I haven't received any word yet. I'm beginning to think I typed my other reference's number wrong. If that happened, as that messed things up for me since they can get contact them, or do I still have a chance to get hired? Am I just worrying over nothing, as they did get a hold of my first one...

And please, no "Don't work there!" comments, as I have a few other applications in, it's just you take what you can get.

Thanks in advance.

Most large companies take plenty of time before making a decision. I'd wait at least 2 weeks from when you went in. Then a friendly follow-up call to see if they made any type of decision. Always pleasant, never pushy. It shows interest in the position, which is a positive point.

A few weeks ago, huh? Well, if a place is looking to immediately hire people, they usually don't take more than 2 or 3 weeks to call you back, depending on how many applications they have to go through. However it's possible that they're simply not looking for anyone at the moment and that they will consider you once they have a position open. Don't give up just yet.... like someone said above, you could try giving them a call to see what the status of your application is.

Good luck :-)

Walmart goes at their own pace. If they called your reference then you can be almost positive they will soon call you in to do your drug screening, background check, and then a job. I was hired twice with Walmart, working for Sam's Club during college( it took about a month for me to start working after I put in the application) and when I went in for my Walmart interview, they called my references while I was sitting in the waiting area! I got offered the job during the interview. So I definitely think you got the job:) They would't bother calling your references if they weren't interested. Just be patient. Walmart is always hiring, they may just be waiting on someone to leave or a position to open. Good luck in your endeavors!

they probably have a hundred other applicants, and no openings at the time you applied. Once they check out your references and decide if they even want to hire you, they will probably contact you and 99 other people and tell them that when something opens up they will be called in order of application. It never hurts to check back with the personell department though, give them a call or visit.

go inn and talk with the pic and find out where your application stands. that way they will see your very intrested in the opening, and try to somewhat sneak in an interview in the conversation. good luck !! :)
