First, check your documentation. You need to know how many pins (usually 168), and the clock speed of the RAM (like PC100, 2700 DDR - double data rate) and so on. Another way is to open the case (might void the warranty) and read the sticker on the RAM stick you have in there. Just duplicate what you have if there's another RAM slot. If you know the info on your shuttle, you can go to www.crucial.com and select the right memory as well. Otherwise, take it into a shop and let them do it. You then have a guarantee that it will work, and they'll fix any problems that might arise. Sometimes it's wise to pay the extra.

Very simple solution.
Download & run this program on the Shuttle PC :
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

It will examine the components on your computer & tell you all you need to know about the type of RAM it has:

Frequency and timings.
Module(s) specification using SPD (Serial Presence Detect) : vendor, serial number, timings table.

It does not get any easier nor more foolproof that this.

particular, improve to a minimum of 2Gb, the hot primary. visit the dell internet site and to be certain what type you choose. must be everywhere from $20-40. this might heavily enhance your desktops overall performance. desktops have become extra low fee, and you would be able to get a great twin center processor for $500 and a minimum of 2Gb's of ram and a very roomy 200Gb difficultcontinual. in case you choose to make that bounce. you likely can not improve the pix card in that pc for the reason that PCI convey did no longer relatively come on that many desktops returned then, so in case you improve the whole pc and then improve the pix card for a much better pc than the only you have spectacular now.

Visit an online RAM seller such as www.crucial.com that has an online system scanner. It'll tell you what they sell that will work with your machine and how much you can upgrade to. Good luck and have fun!
