Driving to work today i hit a tube of silicone! It busted all over the side of my car and will not come off. I have heard to use WD-40 and also Lighter Fluid to remove it

what do you suggest?

Make a visit to your local automotive paint supplier. They have an adhesive removal wheel that you place in a low rpm drill and it will take it right off. Try to wipe off any of the silicone that is still wet before you hit it with the wheel. It looks like a pencil eraser that is the size of a hockey puck. Works like a charm. It will also take off the residue from any sticker, decal or body molding without damaging the paint.

Dry silicone on good paint should come off with your finger when it's dry.

I guess you probably got some on the inside of the wheel arch too. The WD-40 is the best thing to use - not that bad for your skin if you're rubbing it around too.

i wouldnt use either of those especially lighter fluid for the sake of your paint. the best bet is to run to lappens or autozone and buy a 7 dollar bottle of bug and tar remover one of my freinds thought it'd be funny to cover my mirrors with ductape and it sat like that for 3 days and that stuff took it right off with a lil elbow grease. for the record wd40 rots rubber terribly so dont use that anywhere near your wheel

Get some bug and tar remover as it should not hurt your paint WD should not hurt your clear coat but lighter fluid will.
