We import about 20% of our oil from the anti-civilization nihlists in the Mideast. SURELY, we can make-do with 20% less imported oil? And go tell them idiots to go suck sand?
And long term, lets replace that 20% with about one or two thousand new nuclear power plants; lets build nuke plant parks in unpopulated areas of the American southwest far away from the cities.

Well I'm Canadian but oil is not just used for fuel...its used in plastic, tires and other stuff...besides...I Don't think the USA could last long without importing oil...and its probably cheaper to import it.
