Tell her. Others have done the same for me.

I've had the occasion to do it several times. Mostly, I was doing it to correct the person's mistakes. However, if you look it as the clerk in question is going to wind up with a shorted register, and may be disciplined for it, then the nice thing to do would be to point it out to them at the time. In reality though, if you need money, and someone makes a mistake in your favor, its much easier to take it without saying a thing. Morally though, I'd say you're creating bad karma for youself by not pointing it out to the clerk.
That's my two cents for ya.

Always return it. Not only is it the right thing to do, but in many cases, the clerk must make up shortages out of their own pockets. A bank teller once gave me too much money. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, she refused to listen to me, saying that they didn't make mistakes. I had to go to the manager to return the money. I got a nice thank you letter from the bank and the teller lost their job. I'm sorry I was the cause of that, but I couldn't keep the money. It wasn't mine.

I'd let her know. I've actually been in this situation and had an argument with the clerk because they insisted they gave me the right change. Don't know if they didn't understand or what. So that time I just kept it.

I would tell her. I would not want the clerk's paycheck to be short because she had to makeup the difference when her cash drawer did not balance.

Absolutely...you gotta tell the clerk.
If not, the clerk will be ending up paying for the missing money at the end of her/his shift.........and thats not fair.......
