Ouch!! She needs alot of help with the baby right now and good emotional support. It sounds like she has had a 4th degree perineal tear. Tears range in degrees from 1-4. Four is the worse. A fourth degree tear involves tearing through the back passage to the bowel. Women who experience a fourth-degree tear during delivery are significantly more likely to have persistent anal sphincter defects leading to fecal urgency or incontinence.
She needs to check her stiches and make sure they are intact. If she is having bowel leakage then she needs to go to the hospital.
She may want to consult a colorectal surgeon.

I dont hardly think so --especially since the vagina and the rectum are to seperate canals. Not even some stirches could link them. I may seem like it because of the stitches-- sometimes they stitch really tight and the woman will feel like the area is closer or smaller than it ever was before. Since it was only 3 weeks ago they will probably loosen some as they heal. She needs to call Ripley's is she truly is!

If the tear was internal and deep enough to cross over between vagina and rectum, it is possible. She needs to go to the doctor to have herself checked out.

If she tore straight through, yes. She could have matter passing back and forth from rectum to vagina if she wasn't repaired properly or her stitches came open before she healed, etc.
If that is happening, she needs to see her caregiver to get herself repaired!
(This happened to my Grandmother!)
