I had a pair of New Balance tennis shoes made in China and they lasted about 18 months before tearing up. I have another old pair of New Balance tennis shoes (which are too dirty to wear out) made in USA which are 6 years old and are still good shoes to work around the house in. I'm thinking shoes made in China are inferior as are many other products they sell in the USA. Those China made shoes were no more than cheap junk and I wonder why a company like New Balance that still makes some shoes in the USA would sacrafice quality for cheap labor.

These shoes were not knock offs. They were purchased in a reputable shoe store. I guess I thought the quality would be the same, but it wasn't. I bought a new pair of made in USA shoes. I had VCR made in China that lasted 2 days, a hammer whose head came off after 4 days of nailing, and light bulbs that last about 1/2 of the life printed on the box so I am not making a generalization. All the above were replaced with products made in Korea and USA and they have all lasted. I am now boycotting goods made in China because they arent' even worth the cheap prices they charge.

It was probably more like the new change over to cheaper materials that they went through. most companies suck customers in by providing a good product. Once established, they started cutting corners, to make more money.
I've heard that in China, they make the same shoes to be sold for different prices, depending on what label will be placed on it.

So you are making a generalization based on one example? That is not a logical argument. Sorry.
Fact is that I have owned lots of shoes made all over the world. Some were good. Some were bad. I have not noticed any difference between them based on where they were made, though some companies are definitely better than others.
In addition to that, the amount of work you put your shoes through is going to vary for each pair. The fact is that you can go out right now and buy 5 pairs of the exact same shoes, and they will not each last you the same amount of time.
You're going to need more than two pairs of shoes to prove your point.
I will say this: New Balance does not make the best shoes in the world: period. I'm basing that on one pair of shoes I have personally owned, and a number of pairs that friends of mine have worn. In fact, I don't know anyone who has owned a pair of New Balance shoes who bought a second pair, regardless of where they were made.

When it comes to cutting down the budget of big companies, they can get pretty nasty, and cheap.
But as Mr. Taco said you can not base your opinion on just one pair of shoes.
As with any other article made in mass chain, there are going to be some weak links to that chain, ( it seems that you got a weak link), but let say if you got a strong pair of shoes (a strong link), would you have ever posted the opposite question?
Besides that you need to keep in mind that different countries have different standards of quality to be able to perform.
It is just hard enough to know that whoever helped make those shoes in China, will never ever be able get a pair of those same shoes.

I think anything made in China is inferior..if you buy 3 pairs of pants that are supposed to be the same size, all 3 are different...same with shoes,shirts, etc. It used to be the same with Japan, until they found out that quality was a must !

Yes, I bought a bluetooth that was shipped and made in china and it didn't work that good, when you talk you could hear the other persons echo.

I guess so ...buy the american ones then . I for one wouldnt want to have a pair of shoes for more than a year , let alone 6 years ! sheesh .
