I'm so glad I put this in two different categories b/c now I know both answers to my question! The other one someone told me that Ben Franklin came up with it and gave me a link. Now I know why they did it three weeks early in this one.

I don't really know why you guys do it. We don't do it in Arizona and Hawaii.

In 2005 the U.S. congress passed a law to start DST three weeks earlier and have it last a week later. This is the first year this law has taken effect. So, instead of the old dates, DST is now the second Sunday in March through the first Sunday in November.

I'm sure glad I don't have to remember that.

Daylight savings was started during World War 2. It was to conserve energy because they believed that people used less electricity during the night. It happened early because they wanted to start conserving energy.
