I mean the swollen part of the finger, where the nail bed is. I know the nail itself will take months to grow out. The finger has been x-rayed and is not broken, and the nail was pierced to remove the build up of blood (but it had already dried). The nail bed is still very swollen after 2 weeks, although the pain has gone. Should I return to the doctor, or is it normal for the swelling to last this long?

fingers stay swollen for a long time when they have had a crush injury. will prob stay swollen for up to a couple of months. the problem is that swelling is a fluid, your hands hang down a lot and gravity keeps the swelling in you finger. you can massage it starting from the tip of your finger and working towards the base. good luck
