Should you put in diapers and change him in the bassonette or recieving blankets, or should I put nothing down there? Just some ideas of what other people do would be great.

There are two parts to the bassonette, there is the bed, and all that is on that is blankets, but there is a mesh bottom part for storage.

I have a 5 month old and I loved having a bassonette in addition to the crib.

We moved the bassonette to the family room or our bedroom for the first 2 months depending on where we were in the house.

I sugges you don't put too much in the bottom portion because it will affect the way it rocks if it is weighed down with products. Here is what I kept in the lower portion:

A few diapers
Wet Wipes
vasoline
burp cloth
receiving blanket
toy

Blankets are a good idea. Or a toy. A book that is handy for you to read when you get up in the middle of the night. lol
I wouldn't change diapers in the bassonette because you may muss the sheets. lol

I guess it depends on how cushioned the bottom is. If it's nothing but a board, I would lay down a couple of blankets, but make sure they are tight, because you don't want baby to suffocate. I wouldn't change your baby in the bed, because if there is an accident, you would have to clean the entire bed and all the bedding.

a sheet &/or a crib blanket (not too thick). yes, you can change the baby in the bassinet, but DO put down a waterproof changing pad before you start -- TRUST ME. My daughter had explosive bowel movements & if I didn't have the bottom of the bassinette covered, I'd have had to throw it out the first month I had it. Good luck!

I have everything in the bottom of mine. I have diapers, wipes, onsies, blankets, and bibs. Its nice to have all those things if you need them in the night!
