The fact that you are

People used to think I was a lesbian because I had short hair and didn't have a boyfriend for years. The truth of the matter was that I didn't have a boyfriend because I am so obsessed with the beauty of the male form that only the best would do!!! So I was far from it, but people are small minded, old fashioned and generally ignorant as a rule.
I did manage to find a beautiful boy who lived up to my exacting standards, by the way!! I can't imagine being a lesbian when there's outstanding creatures like that walking around!!

Um.. i have no idea
i think it could be society not accepting people for who they are,
i am a xyx meaning i have xy chromosones and one extra female chromosone,
i look male but have alot of the female charateristics

i have found that when i tell people who i am they dont understand but thats straight normal people for ya,
they see something they dont understand then judge you because either they are afraid or confused

but anyway i think lesbians are such sweet things , i cant help but smile my face off when i see two girls or guys with one another its just soo cute....if i could choose all the nice people on earth it would be all the gays and lesbians

oh yer your cartoon pic is real cute, like your hair!

....bye ;)

You didn't say what people said about you being lesbians. Are the comments at certain times or about certain things? That should give you a clue. Maybe it's your hair or maybe you're acting a certain way with female friends. On the other hand, it might be idiots saying the first thing on their mind when you turn them down for a date to get back at you.

Well, overlooking the fact that you worded this a bit strangely lol, I'd say that people would think someone else was a lesbian just by sheer judging of character or by stereotyping. It's pretty easy to label if a woman is wearing Birkenstock's, has extra short hair, wears boys clothes, and tapes down her breasts. Anyway, as much as some say they don't want to label or stereotype, it just happens! :)

If you go round telling everyone that you are
If you go around kissing other girls
If you have an intimate relationship with a girl
If other girls are jelous of you they might spread the rumour
If you dress in a way that typical lesbians will (not sure what that is, but for gay guys its obvious), may be its dressing like a guy
Im not sure of any other things

I was standing next to a female friend in a 'gay' neighborhood in NYC and some guys yelled out the window of a car, "Oooooh! Lesbians!" We aren't lesbians so I think all you have to do is stand next to a girl.

Is this some kind of challenge to know in what context you are talking about. If you are, you are , and if you are not, you're not. You have must realize that you have less control of whatever other people think than what you would like. It's your life and their bouquets or brickbats can't change that fact. What people think about you doesn't have to mean that is what you are. Your question is about personal identity. If the question asked by others, who are obviously not your friend, so important to you than you must ask yourself if this is true. or are you overreacting.

The question you are asking can be only answered by yourself. I gave it my best crack.

Usually by the way you dress, have your hair, you stand , you walk and speak. Feminine lesbians are a little more deceptive.

Why are you so concerned about what people think? Do your own thing, make yourself and other who cross your path happy and forget about all the other people out there whom you don't know and don't really care to now.

Live the moment, live for now! Be happy.
