I'm going to a boutique bra store today. Want to get measured to see what size I should be wearing. When they measure you, do you remove your shirt and bra (boobs exposed?) or do they measure over your shirt or the bra you're wearing? Thanks.

they measure over your bra, so make sure it doesn't have too much padding or you won't get an accurate size.

usually, they will measure over your bra. like someone else suggested, don't wear a padded one, so you can get an accurate measurement.

i know some places charge to measure you, if the place you're going is like that, I would suggest not to go. you can easily measure yourself.

fit a tape measure just under your bra line (top of the ribcage, under the boobs), add 5 inches to this (this is your band size-if it's an odd #, round up one)....then measure the peak of your chest (the place where your boobs poke out the most), for every inch past the band #, you add a cup size. I.E., band measures 31 inches+5inches=36 (band size), boob measures 39 inches (that's +3, so C cup===you'd wear a 36C.

Well, I see you've gotten your question answered and some good advice too. I just want to add that you've made a really good decision. It's so important to be wearing the right size. I wish every girl could get help from a fit specialist.
