I'll probably get a lot of thumbs down for this but here goes:
If the other couple met you and your ex as a couple, it may just be that they feel as if they must now choose one over the other.
If the other couple met one of you, then later was introduced to the other as "partner," they may feel more loyalty to the friend they knew first (happened to me).
There's always the possibility that they simply don't know what to say. It's never easy when a couple breaks up...I never know what to say or how to behave.

usually happens if the couple are also friends with your ex partner. People usually act weird when they don't know how to react. They have probably been in contact with your ex and have had to lend their shoulders to cry on. It's a very awkward situation, as a couple being friends with a couple whom have just broken up.

A lot of times couples are friends with couples, but only one "part" of one couple actually likes "one part" of the other couple and vice versa. The other "parts" simply tolerate the overall friendship. Am I confused...:) ?

I think it's because they are used to seeing you and your ex as a pair. They're not sure how to act around just you or just your ex. They still want to be friends, it's they don't want to hurt you by mentioning your ex and they want to stay friends with both.

Simple.. the females rule in relationships and Im sure you've been bad mouthed to your friends girl.. and your also now a threat to her as in your single and may ask her "MAN" to go out which in her mind may mean you'll be going out to pick up women..
