Or is she asking for something that is unreasonable? I'm waiting for my doc to call me back, but I'm getting really pissed. When I say 20 lbs, that's just an average. Some are as much as 40 lbs, and they are a very akward size (and I have to try to squeeze into a storage closet to get them. I can't even get in there, anymore.

Is this legal? Is it a liability? These are files that we don't need to get, but she feels like telling me to get them when she gets the chance.

It seems like she's trying to get me to quit, just by her general behavior.

Any advice would be appreciated.

She cannot make you lift anything. You can get a medical not but your word will win over hers. If anything happened to the baby she would be held liable and she could be sued. If you cannot medically lift something she cannot force you. If she fires you over it you can sue her for it because it is against the law to discriminate because of pregnancy

She doesnt have a leg to stand on. My boss won't let me lift ANYTHING. She yells at me if I do (in a caring way) if I do. She knows that it is not right

I had a high risk pregnancy, and I was not allowed to lift anything above 10 pounds.. but with my job, at 10 weeks, I was given a list of restrictions, and I was allowed to lift 40 pounds until my 28th week, and 25 pounds after that. so the 20 pound boxes are just fine, although don't do it too much. but nothing more than that.. I had a friend at work deliver her son 9 weeks early because of not listening to her doctor about her restrictions. but even with those, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, don't do it.

personally if your just lifting it once in awhile it should be fine, not repititive. think of how many people have toddlers that they have to carry around (my daughter is 2 i'm 34.5 weeks and she weighs 26 lbs) but only if its once in awhile.
do you belong to a union talk to the rep, if not maybe go to human resources.

absolutely not!
if your boss is really that thick, call your doctor and have him/her fax a letter stating so.
