I perfer Kobe haters.

The answer, while not overly simple, is as telling concerning our society as it is about basketball in general. People feel, either consciously or subconsciously, that they can increase their status by proximity to other people who have earned high honors. It doesn't matter that the man in question is obviously an immature, selfish and overall careless brat; we can even forgive his (alleged) rape. Claiming to like Kobe makes a person better sociologically because an iota of his 'greatness' falls to his adoring fans. To look at his another way, how many people have you met in your life who claim their favorite teams' championships as a mark of their own self-worth? Same principal.

Why are there so many Kobe haters out there? These people have not life. It's just a game, and he's the best at it! He is not a doctor finding a cure for cancer, just an athlete. We should worship the ones that try to save us and hate the ones that kill us. And thats from a Lakers fan!

Because he's the most talented player in the World and has three rings. He also carries his franchise moreso than any other player in the league right now.

People often disrespect him and say that he can't do it alone, but no player in NBA history won a title by himself. Even Jordan had Pippen, Kerr and a variety of other players.

Kobe had Shaq before, just in the same way that the Heat did. In fact, you could argue that the Heat are doing better without Wade. Shaq is carrying the Heat just as much as Kobe is carrying the Lakers.

Kobe is a competitor and he can will his team to victory. Michael Jordan nor Magic Johnson were perfect citizens either (Jordan's divorce, Magic's battle with HIV), and being in the national spotlight puts much more emphasis on those things. Being Kobe Bryant magnifies things even more.

You think Kobe is the first person to cheat on his wife? You think he is the first person to intentionally foul someone or come up with a move to initiate contact? (Hello, Reggie Miller made that famous!)

Sure, sometimes he gets into trouble by what he says, but that's living in Los Angeles for you. Anything you say in LA will get twisted to make you look like the bad guy. Why do you think Shaq and Horry were so eager to get out, even though they had a shot at another title?

So why should you hate on Kobe Bryant? He's a decent guy, not perfect, but decent. He's undoubtably the most talented player in the NBA. And, most of all, he's a competitor.

The biggest reason people love Kobe Bryant, though, is because he does his job well. The same way you love the police officer who arrests someone, or your tax agent who gets you a nice refund. Kobe Bryant is a professional basketball player, and as basketball fans, it's our place to judge his performance on the court, not off of it. You don't have to like someone as a person to like and respect what they do when they clock in.

Why? Because Kobe is currently the best player in the league. He does it all. Scores, pass, wins championships, hits game winning shots, carries his team, plays defense. You name it, he can do it.

If you hate Kobe, you should ask yourself these questions:

1) If the game was on the line (especially a playoff or finals game) who's hand would you want the ball in?

2) Would you hate Kobe if he was on your team?

3) Even if you do not like his personality or the things he's done in his life, don't you at least respect his game?

Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and everybody else in this league are not even worthy of holding his jock strap.

Just think about this...Kobe has already won three championships and he's not even 30. Jordan peaked and became "Jordan, the greatest player in NBA history" in his 30's and late 30's (when he won his 6th ring at 36). In other words, Kobe's game has yet to peak or at the very least still has potential to peak. I can't imagine how unstoppable he'll be when he reaches his 30's....

Because he scores the most and scoring is all that matters duh.

D-Wade all the way. Kobe without the attitude. Go back and watch his post championshp interviews. Completely humble and does nothing but defer to the team. Best player in the league and the champsionship series proved it.

a lot of people think that he still got it
I know that he doesn't have it, and never will again.
There are new sheriffs in the league, and their names are Dwayne, Dirk, LeBron...

not to mention his nasty behavior...
