There are two answers, although I would think that B. is the answer you are looking for.
Type 2 Diabetes is showing up more often in children. This is due in part the the dangers of processed foods that we eat. In particular, many foods now contain corn syrup. Corn syrup is not the "sweet part" of corn, but the starchy part, that is chemically altered to make it taste sweet. It is then much sweeter than sugar. Overdosing on sugar (getting that sugar high) that we get when we eat these foods taxes the our bodies ability to process it. In order to balance this out, insulin is used by the body to metabolize the excess. Eventually the ability to reach an equilibrium is permanently harmed and type 2 diabetes can occur.
But there is another way that type 2 diabetes is being caused in young population, and it is similar to a problem occurring with the osteoporosis problem I will discuss below. There are certain pharmaceutical drugs being given for other problems that have been shown to cause diabetes. These are certain drugs for depression or other psychiatric issues. Included in this group are drugs like Zyprexa, Seroquel. There are others.
For osteoporosis, a cause in younger people can be the birth control drug (the shot) called Depo Provera, which has been shown to caused a decrease in bone mass density, an din some cases Osteoporosis. As a result, some patients are then put on Fosamax, which can have another set of side effects - Osteonecrosis of the Jaw.
Hope that this information helps. For more details on this - see the below links.

Obesity-Related Type 2 Diabetes in Children. Until recent years, diabetes in children was almost always type 1 (an autoimmune disease). Between 1982 and 1994, however, the incidence of type 2 diabetes in children multiplied by ten, until in 1996, a study reported that a third of all new diabetes cases in children were type 2. This increase parallels the rising epidemic in childhood obesity that has occurred both in the US and worldwide, notably Europe and Japan. In some areas of Japan, type 2 diabetes has now become the dominant form of diabetes in children and adolescents. Obesity in children is also related to abnormalities in cholesterol, blood pressure, and insulin levels in adults. Administering glucose tolerance tests in overweight children may be helpful in identifying those at high risk for diabetes.
