The effects of birth control are different for every person. It can make you gain weight (some people do, some people don't), but usually its only 5-10 lbs. So you won't be FAT. I gained about 5 when i started on the pill. If you have concerns talk to your doctor about them. She can tell you better than anyone else. She can suggest things to do like excersice, watch your carb intake etc. Good luck.

I'm sorry, but yes. Birth control fools the body into thinking it is pregnant so that it doesnt release eggs anymore. And pregnant women obviously gain a lot of weight.

I'm serious, I'm 5'7 and I went from 125 to 147 over the course of 2 years but I attributed it to natural growing up weight gain. I went off birth control in december, and am at 125 again. And I ate WAY more than I ever did on birth control because I was losing so much weight I thought something was wrong with me.

I hope you find an option that works for you.

It totally depends on your body! I've never had a problem with gaining weight on the pill and I've been on 3 different ones. I will say that Ortho Tri Cylen made me lose weight. It was about 8 pounds which was nice and it stopped me from almost ever getting a pimple!! But like I said it depends on your body. From what I hear if you get on a pill and it makes you gain weight and you come off of it then the weight just falls off. Also, I don't know how true it is but I heard that the weight gained when on the pill is only water weight so you just take some water pills and it goes away! Well good luck hope this helps!

birth control has a number of different side effects. and gaining weight is one of them. within the first three months is when you expierence the most weight gain and other side effects. after the first three months you are able to drop the weight fairly easy. the amount of weight ranges with every girl that takes it so theres no exact amount you will gain. id say no more than 10 though.

Not unless you let it. Most women who go on birth control don't gain weight, or if they do, it's like 2-3 lbs

no it won't. trust me... it took the longest time for my boyfriend to convince me to go on the pill b/c i had the exact same concern. i absolutely refuse to take any med that will make me gain weight. so i discussed it with my doctor, who assured me that because i already have an active lifestyle (cardio, sports, etc), i shouldn't notice any change in my weight from the pill.

so, as long as you already have habits that keep you at low risk for gaining weight, you should be fine on birth control.

the only thing that birth control pills are suppose to is so that a fertilized egg will not attach itself in the uterine walls. the birth control pills are not suppose to make you fat at all!

it is possible. but there are other forms that you can use that won't have that sort of effect. consult your doctor to find out which one you'd like to try
