Absolutely, go acoustic.

I was 11 years old when I started with a cheap acoustic, learned the chords, then went to a classical. The classical guitar has nylon strings and is much easier on the fingers while you're learning. When I got better, I upgraded to a more expensive guitar, and I've had that one since '79.

Go for it, and good luck!!

I think it depends on the kind of music you want to start out playing. Accoustic is usually more affordable so lots of people start out on them.

Acoustic guitar is better to practice on because it is way harder to play! If you can play it on acoustic first, when you get to an electric, it is normally much easier to play.

okay, i have recently learned to play guitar. start with acoustic because it is alot easier and has a bolder sound so its easier to hear. electric guitars are easier onyour fingers but acoustic is louder and has a unique sound.

An acoustic is more portable, less a drain on the power grid.
