Because people want to learn about what the good life is all about (if you can call it the good life). I, for one, could care less about celebrities and their lives. It's their own business.

b/c celebirities lead more interesting lives then them and they have to have some sort of entertainment or they wouldnt have a life and they wouldnt have anyhting to talk about.
