Wow that is big!!! My daughter will be 3 months this Saturday and she weights 13 pounds which I thought was big, she was born at 8lbs 10oz. WOW I hope that is formula and not breast feeding. My daughter is in the 75 percentile. I guess your is near the 95%.

Your son is a big child. How tall was he. Some children are just big babies. My youngest son was 6lbs 5 ozs at birth and was 12lbs 12ozs at 8 weeks. He has not gotten any smaller. If he is not overeating and is otherwise developementaly on target, do not overworry yourself. I have a nephew who is 3 wearing size 7/8 shirts and I have a niece who is 4 just getting out of 3T's. No two children are the same. My little one is just 7 lbs lighter than his brother and they are 18 months apart. My little one is 5 months and weighs in at 18lbs, his older brother was the same weight at 1 year.
Be concerned at 2-3 years if his height and weight haven't leveled off.

My daughter is 3 months and 4 days old and she weighs 16 lbs, she is also 25 in long. She weighed 8lbs 3oz at birth. I discussed my concern for her weight gain with her pediatrician and she said not to worry about it. Some babies are just big and I should start her on rice cereal when she turns four months.
So don't worry about his weight gain. Talk to your pediatrician about starting him on solids in a month or so.

Wow, that seems a bit big. My twins weighed about 10lbs at around 3 months....they were both over 6lbs at birth. Don't worry though until there is something to worry about. I am sure that if the doctor felt something was wrong she would have instructed you to do something different with his diet.

It varies from baby to baby. At 3 months being overweight is nothing to worry about. Everyone loves a chunky baby!!

he is a little on the bigger side, my son was 16.5lb at 9 months, but every baby is different. your son being "overweigh" is not something you did at only 3 months, it is just how he is gaining weight, if he continues to gain weight like this they may check his thyriod, but if the dr hasnt said anything then i wouldnt worry about. congrats

Every baby is different. If you are concerned then talk to your doctor about what he thinks.
