My m-i-law thinks that he'll start teething soon. Isn't it 2 early?

It's probably teething, and it's not too early. My daughter cut her first two teeth (within a week of each other) when she was 4 months old. When teething does start, I suggest getting Hyland's teething tablets and teething gel. They're amazing! They're homeopathic and can be paired with Tylenol if pain is extreme for baby.

If you're nursing, now is a good time to prepare yourself for getting bitten. It's not something that has to end your nursing relationship. Keep a finger close to break the latch if baby bites. When baby bites, you firmly, but gently, say, "No biting mommy." Don't yell or scare baby, I know it's hard, but that can lead to more problems. If baby continues to bite, keep calmly saying, "No biting mommy" and break the latch. After the third bite, you take baby away from the breast and "close up shop" and say, "No biting mommy!" and give baby a teething ring. After a few times, baby will realize that you're not a chew toy and if he bites, the nursing session will end, so he'll stop.

Babies will start the teething process, starting with the drooling months before the first tooth appears. Soon he will be gumming his hand a lot and that too can go on for a few months. My daughter started drooling 3 months before her first 2 teeth popped up.

My son started drooling at about 2 months old and got his first tooth at 5 and 1/2 months. He drooled alot. We would go through at least 3-4 bibs a day, if not more. He more than likely is teething. My son stopped drooling at about 1 and 1/2. Hope yours stops sooner.

My baby is 3 months old and has started teething. Just because he/she is teething doesnt mean he will actually get his teeth right away. Teething can begin months before the teeth cut. Drooling doesnt necessarily mean he is teething. Babies also drool when the start to explore with their mouth. Good Luck

No, it's not too early. Babies start drooling around that age. It is the beginning of the teething process, but it doesn't mean that you should look for any teeth. It will probably several months.

I don't know that babies typically teeth at 3 months. Doesn't mean it's impossible. Try running your fingertip over his gums to see if you can feel anything. Is he drooling a lot? Chewing? These are signs he could be teething. My daughter went through all sorta of weird colicky episodes where she wouldn't nurse for no apparent reason. I even took her to the doctor a few times I was so concerned. Nothing was wrong with her. Try giving him tylenol and give your pediatrician a call if it really concerns you.

He may drool for months before teething. My son did I always told my husband he is about to cut a tooth and he didn't for the longest time it seemed. Use lots of bibs and just keep his chin and chest dry. Give him toys to chew on.

All babies drool. Your baby is probably starting to teeth. Your mother in law is probably right.
