I'm 31 old to some but I still consider myself young. I was watching the movie Requim last night and really impacted by it. There was an old woman in the movie alone and senile. It was very sad. I know many people get old and find themselves alone and scared. I know others who seem very happy.
Right now I'm working full time. Trying to get business ventures started and having fun with my wife. I'm not sure if we will have kids but probably.
My question is what can I work for now that I will value when I'm old?
My Marrige, kids, money for comfort and the ability to travel, health, friends, spirituality. I'm interested in getting your feedback.

Raise good kids with a sense of responsibility, treat them lovingly so they will love you. Get them the best possible realistic start in life so they will have the ability to help you out when you need it, because you probably will need it. Sad are the cases where parents have been so abusive or cold to their kids that the kids just let the parents rot when their time of need comes.
("realistic" start in life does not mean spoiling them, it means give them the opportunity to work, to learn the satisfaction of a job well done, congratulate them on their every success in life whatever that might be--winning in sports, good grades, an advance at work. If you can help them get into the best possible colleges that will help their careers immensely.)
Other than that, by all means take good care of your health. If you smoke, stop. Moderate your drinking. Get into exercising regularly. Monitor your health regularly. Get a good health insurance plan. Stay out of the sun. Eat wisely. Keep your mind exercised. Have fun.
