You did the right thing to be happy.I left my country with two kids under three years old to escape domestic violence.I had no home,no possessions, nothing.
I am living happily ever after.Freedom is wonderful!

Leaving the shelter of a government job after 20 + years to retire.. Still wonder if I did the right thing some days until I hear how bad things are there now.

Mine was when me and my husband were dating, we were only together for about 3 months and I became pregnant. I knew how I felt about him, but I didn't want him to think I was just having the baby to marry him or trap him.
He was only 20 when my son was born (i'm a year older) so I understand it would be a difficult pill to swallow for a young guy who just moved out a year ago and is living it up, partying every weekend, to get a girl pregnant that you only dated for a few months. We clicked right away, but it still is only 3 months!
For me it was love at first sight with him, but I backed off b/c I wanted the baby whether or not he wanted to be with me.
It was the hardest year of my life, staying his friend, pregant with his child, wishing we were together & he was dating other people. I don't know now how I dealt with that and didn't go crazy on him! I knew how I felt, but I wanted him only to be with me for ME.
Around my son's baptism, we started spending a lot more time together again, not just for my son. So we moved in together, then bought a house, then got married. Now we've been married 5 years this coming October, have 4 kids before we're 30. Crazy life we have, but I wouldn't trade it for a thing.
I loved him and let him go, and he did come back. And i'll never have to wonder if it was out of feeling obligated to me b/c of our son, and he always admired me for being so level headed about it.

Selling everything I owned except for clothes, photos, and sentimental things, and moving from Indiana to Alabama to be with my boyfriend. That was going on 5 years ago, and we're still together. Whew that was scary!
